AC Shadows Introduces Bizarre AoT Event for Thanksgiving
In a surprising collaboration that challenges conventional predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Disclosed
According to the official release, "An unusual meeting pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where hints of forbidden rituals and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the darkness." The plot features a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret group.
The mission focuses on "peculiar tests and a terrifying enemy" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Changes
The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a striking scene showing a character, likely the prisoner, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Prizes and Bonus Content
Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an exclusive katana together with multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Content
This patch also adds the game's latest no-cost story content, titled "The Mystery." This playful quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Partnerships
This represents hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime properties. The series formerly showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
