Christantus Uche Fuels Dominant Palace Triumph at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though entering their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable result that all but guarantees them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further victory in their upcoming fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight passage to the last 16, particularly following a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This occasion provided a platform for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second game in match.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their league season were no match against a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

Control Asserted from the Outset

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the official waved away the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.

The home side were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
