It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the record chasers, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the pitchers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

In the end, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to produce her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her debut and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fail again.

If this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it was a disappointing period because it appeared I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and after that Healy was underway.

"The possibility to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was dismissed the team required another 66 at run per delivery - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this World Cup should hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing despite the injury.

But while she afterwards confessed those physical issues have delayed plans to retire, this tournament is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as leader.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
