The Initial Look at the Legendary Cast
The debut footage showcases Matt Damon portraying the king of Ithaca. We also see Tom Holland playing the son and Anne Hathaway depicting the loyal wife. Based upon a cornerstone in classic storytelling, The Odyssey follows the epic journey undertaken by the famed ruler. After his triumph at Troy, as told in Homer's Iliad, the king faces a long and perilous road home.
Legendary Obstacles with an All-Star Cast
On his travels, the hero encounters countless challenges and mythical beings. These include the enchantress Circe, known for turning humans into pigs, and the deceptive Sirens. Regardless of these ordeals, Odysseus vows to do whatever it takes to reunite with Penelope and Telemachus in Ithaca.
The adaptation's cast boasts an impressive lineup. Alongside the leading trio are Charlize Theron as the cunning Circe, alongside Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Elliot Page, and Jon Bernthal.
A Story Repeatedly Told
Homer's epic has seen numerous adaptations throughout history. These range from modern retellings to a 1999 ballet. It has even been adapted into a musical titled Epic: The Musical, released in the form of a multi-part album series.
